Continuing On

The players from the real world were all able to finish their trials, but were not able make it out of the rooms before their 8 hour window expired. They all logged off, promising to return in exactly 4 hours. Knowing that they would not be able to continue the raid until their families returned, the groups settled in for the wait. Jane and James continued to browse the library, perusing books then adding them to their bags. Jane wasn’t sure if the raid would let her keep them, but since there was no other loot available, she assumed that this was her reward. Even if she couldn’t keep the books, What she had already learned was fantastic. If the books were still in her bag when she got home, she would need to build a bigger library and this would be her favorite reward since waking up naked in her little clearing.

Cap spent some of their time in the game room teaching Hulk, Jesse James, George, and Jackson to play Texas Hold’em. Three of the 4 of them had been teenagers when they died, so poker was new to them. Now, copper, silver, and even the occasional gold moved about the table as they really got into the game and good natured trash talking.

Max and his companions enjoyed their time with their new soul beasts. The animals seemed to complete them in a way that they couldn’t explain. It was almost as if they had lived their lives with 1 blind eye. It had become normal and they had no idea what they were missing. Then a doctor provided a miracle and they suddenly realized all that they hadn’t been able to see before. These animals completed them in a similar way. They spent an hour playing before the whole group settled in to sleep. Morland had already slept, so he stood watch while learning the amazing capabilities of his new friend Spy. Morland’s ninja class gave him the creep ability which was his class’s equivalent of stealth. Unlike stealth, which slowed the user down by as much as 80% at low levels, ninjas could combine creep with Swift Feet to actually increase travel speed at Morland’s high level by 15%. Coupled with his armor augmented speed stat of 168, Morland’s pet needed to be extremely fast in order to be able to keep up with him. Spy was that and more. He could not only out pace Morland, but he had a psychic connection that allowed him to act as a scout, sending back images of what he could see. Morland also gained Sky Sight which let him look through Spy’s amazing eyes for 30 seconds, seeing exactly what the flying speedster could see.

As soon as the players returned, the red glow around the doors turned green and the parties made their exits. The wait was not uncomfortable, but they were all definitely ready to move deeper into the castle. Everyone converged on the landing, shaking hands and sharing their experiences.
